Couple’s Photoshoot in the Heart of Florence

Recently, I had the privilege of capturing the love and incredible personalities of Bailey & Joshua. For a couple’s photoshoot in the heart of Florence I usually recommend an early start time to beat the crowds and utilize the soft Italian morning light. Our itinerary for the shoot began on Ponte Santa Trinita. The bridge is one of my absolute favorite locations in Florence since it overlooks the famous bridge, Ponte Vecchio, and the light is always wonderful for creating bright, airy and romantic photographs. Bailey & Joshua strolled hand in hand by the Arno River as I started capturing their story by taking some prompted, posed and candid photos.

From there, we headed to the iconic bridge, Ponte Vecchio, lined with charming shops still boarded up from the night before. I always feel so lucky to stand again and again on this incredible bridge with so much rich history. It was even spared by the bombs of the second world war.

We then made our way to the historic Piazza della Signoria, home to some of Florence’s most famous statues and monuments. The morning light was perfect, casting a warm glow over the square and providing a beautiful backdrop for the couple. Next, we headed to Piazza della Repubblica, a bustling square filled with locals, tourists and the famous cafe, Caffè Giubbe Rosse.

Finally, we ended our shoot at the magnificent Duomo, the iconic cathedral of Florence. The grandeur of the architecture provided the perfect setting for some final intimate shots of the couple.

In the end, it was an unforgettable morning spent capturing the love and beauty of this couple in one of the most romantic cities in the world. As a destination photographer in Florence, I am constantly in awe of the city’s stunning architecture and picturesque streets, and I am grateful for the opportunity to create lasting memories for my clients in this beautiful city.

Check out sunrise-sunset.org to plan your photoshoot and find the sunrise and sunset times of the date of your shoot. Good lighting is essential to outstanding photographs and the best times to shoot are just after sunrise and just before sunset when the light is soft and golden.

Post Photoshoot Questionnaire – Bailey & Joshua:

1. What was your favorite location or moment while on the shoot?

“Walking along the water! We saw more of the waterfront area during the shoot than we did the whole trip! But also just shooting earlier in the AM before the city was crowded for the day.”

2. If you could go back to Florence, what would you do differently?

“I’m not sure we would do much differently, outside of stay longer. We did not have many ticketed or timed events planned before arriving and that allowed us to explore the city more and find the experiences that seemed most appealing at that time. We would love to do a winery tour and tasting the next time we visit, outside of a boat ride that’s is the only thing we didn’t get to do that we would have liked to on our first trip!”

3. Do you have any tips or recommendations for future clients planning a photo session in Florence?

“Choose the early morning shoot! We got so many comments on how it looked like we had the whole city to ourselves and I could not agree more about how magical it made all the photos look.”

4. Is there anything else you would like to share?

“We had the best experience! You knew all of the best places to take us to get the full feel of the city- between the water front, storefronts, street views, and sculptures I really feel like we got a full tour of the city just by doing this shoot! Next time we come we would like to try to garden shoot with the city behind/below us. We cannot wait to visit again!!!”
