When they first contacted me, all they knew was they wanted a combination of city and countryside backgrounds preferable close to where they were staying in San Gimignano. They dreamed of picturesque landscapes with the iconic cypress lined roads of Tuscany. Since it was my first time doing a photo session in the area, I knew I needed to make a scouting trip beforehand to find the perfect locations.
The Magic of the Tuscan Countryside:
With the golden light of the Tuscan sun, we ventured into the serene countryside near San Gimignano. We began near a picturesque farm filled with vineyards and olive groves surrounded by the nearby rolling hills providing an authentic and intimate atmosphere for our session. The couple didn’t hesitate to follow my lead and, with a few prompts, they did an excellent job. I always prefer to photograph curated movement instead of a stagnant pose. The movement helps to make a photo feel more natural and less planned.
We then moved to a second location on a road lined with beautiful Cypress trees. I just love how the trees in the foreground are a bit moody and provide a frame for the light and airy landscape in the background.
One cannot underestimate the magic of these locations, and incorporating them into the photoshoot allowed us to create images that speak to the tranquility, timelessness and romance of the region. The rolling hills and endless vineyards and olive groves provided a natural canvas, accentuating the couple’s love story in every frame.
