Florence, Italy has so many beautiful, picturesque spots to plan a family photoshoot while visiting the city. The center itself has so many ancient buildings and overlooks of the city that make a great backdrop. The only downfall… lots and lots of tourists. While discussing the plan for the photoshoot with this beautiful family, they expressed an interest in finding a place that was a little less busy.
As a photographer, I was very happy to create images that didn’t include the brightly coloured, sweat spotted, t-shirts and baseball hats in the background. I’ve become a master at dodging groups of tourists while photographing in the city but it’s always nice to slow things down.
The overlook in Fiesole was the perfect solution. Fiesole is a little town, only 10 minutes from Florence by bus or taxi, that overlooks the city. A short, but steep walk up hill from the main square will lead you to a spectacular overlook of the city. The view of the city is always changing depending on the weather and the time of day but it always makes for some stunning images.
